Using the app

You need to be 18 or over. You give us a name people will call you, a line about your work, and a description of your laptop, and you keep them honest - the laptop description is how a stranger finds you without either of you having to scan the room.

The rules the app enforces

• Public places only. An invite has to be somewhere anyone can walk into - a cafe, a library, a co-working lobby. This is checked against the venue’s own listing, not taken on trust. Homes are not eligible.
• Three people, maximum. A host and two accepted joiners. The cap does not move.
• One invite a day. You can host or join one thing per day.
• One pending request at a time. You ask one host, and wait.
• New accounts wait a day before hosting, and everyone has a daily cap on requests and reports.

Meeting people

We do not run background checks and we do not verify anyone’s identity or employer. Deciding to sit at a table with someone is your decision. Meet in the public place named on the invite, and leave whenever you want - leaving is one tap, and it never asks you to explain.

Behaviour

Do not use Cafe Grinds to sell things, to recruit, to harass anyone, or to arrange anything other than working near each other. Do not post a venue you have no intention of going to.

Every place a person appears carries Don’t suggest and Report. Hiding someone is mutual and silent - neither of you sees the other again, and neither of you is told. Reporting also hides. We read reports and may remove accounts over them.

Where it works

You can browse invites anywhere in the world. Posting one is open in Bengaluru while the app is new. If you try to post outside a covered area the app says so plainly.

Money

Cafe Grinds is free. There are no ads, and we take no cut of anything. Settings has a donation, which is optional, one-off, and handled entirely by the App Store or the Play Store under their refund rules.

Your content

What you write - your blurb, your notes, your questions and answers - stays yours. You give us permission to show it to the people the app is meant to show it to, and nothing beyond that.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Settings; see Privacy for exactly what that removes. We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms.

The legal part

The app is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for what happens between people who met through it. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bengaluru have jurisdiction.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so before you carry on using it.
